Hiroshima Day Observed with the hope to make a nuclear free world
The twenty first century modern world observed the most brutal incident that took place sixty years ago in Hiroshima, Japan. The day is known as ‘Hiroshima Day’ on which ‘Little Boy’, the 9700 pound Uranium bomb was dropped over the Japanese city . The name does in no way signify the destructive power of the bloody bomb which was used against the humanity. Still this so-called civilized world has not proposed let alone done the trial of the culprits who killed more than two lakhs people just like a fun and virtually for no reasonable cause for reason. At 8:15 on August 6, 1945 Hiroshima time Colonel Paul Tibbets Jr. abord the Enola Gay released ‘Little Boy’, the cursed bomb. It was the first time in the world history when a nuclear bomb was deployed in warfare.60 years after the nuclear attack, Hiroshima today stands tall as a magnificently picturesque clean and tidy city. The 1.6million people of Greater Hiroshima live in a city of peace that is almost free from crime when contrasted with cities of comparable size anywhere in the western world particularly the US. The rejuvenation of Hiroshima is a testimony to the indomitable sprit and the indefatigable zeal of the Japanese people. John Roos the U.S. ambassador at Japan and Ban Ki Moon the United Nations Secretary General became the first representatives to be present at this ceremony called the ‘Peace Memorial Ceremony’ that took place in the Japanese Western City.Even the Representatives from Britain and France that are part of nuclear nations were there at the ceremony for the very first time among the other diplomats from a recorded 74states. The Mayor of Hiroshima Tadatoshi Akiba pressed the government of Japan to leave out the nuclear umbrella of the United States and be a part of the nuclear banishment instead.
Hiroshima Day is not a day of celebration; it is a day of remembrance. This somber observance is a reminder of a quarter of a million soul s who have perished due to a single catastrophic explosion on a bright and beautiful sunny Monday morning of the 6th of August 1945 in Hiroshima brought about by an American nuclear attack . The uranium fuelled atom bomb detonated at 8:15 am 600 meters above the ground surface in a calcualeted devilish design to maximize the devastation reduced this beautiful city to a veritable picture of hell. 80000 people died instantly and by the end of the year of 1945 another 60000 succumbed to radiation poisoning and other dreadful injuries bringing the death toll to 140000 out of a total population of 30000 .Many more continued to die due to cancer and genetic complications caused the atom bomb and the death toll as of today stands at 242437.
Three days later on August 9, 1945 the America B-29bombers flew low over the skies of Nagasaki, like the circling vultures portending death, to unleash the terror of the second unclear strikes within the week. Major Charles W. Sweeney piloted the b-29 named Bocks’ Car and took off from the Tinian island and flew towards Kokura which was the chosen primary target for dropping the plutonium fuelled atom bomb, named by its makers as Fat Man, presumably a term of endeared since then. Bock’s Car flew over the skies of Kokura but abandoned the target because of cloud over and altered its course to Nagasaki. At 11.02 am the 10200 lb plutonium bomb was detonated at 500 meters above rough level. The nuclear blast annihilated Nagasaki and killed 73884. With these twin tests of terror America colonized Japan for the next 60years so much so that every year the US collects an annual subscription of billions of dollars towards the upkeep of about 50000 American troops stationed various military bases across Japan. These 5000 uneducated semi-literate Ameircan soldiers who would otherwise be unemployed in the present recession ravaged declining economic environment of their native country, lead a life of luxury . These American soldiers in Japan have committed over 200000 crimes of all description. They have developed the habit of even raping Japanese schools girls off and on.
Soon afterwards in Japan when the conventional bombing raids by the US air force did not achieve the total destruction of the Japanese cities. Major General Curts LeMay designed the fire-bombings. The plan to fire bomb deliberately targeted civilians with incendiary bombs filled with highly combustible such as magnesium , phosphorus and petroleum jelly (napalm) to cause the maximum possible destruction and casualties. A single nights’ incendiary bombing raid on March 9-10 on Tokyo had killed over a 100000 people mostly women, children and the elderly and decimated a large chunk of the city. A quarter of all buildings of Tokyo were obliterated by this raid carried out by 300 American planes that had taken off from Guam, Saipen and the Tinian island. The airplanes had specially targeted the Tokyo suburbs of wooden houses where each plane had dropped 180 oil gel sticks. They were followed by the dropping of napalm bombs to ensure that the fires licked clean everything on their way. The airplanes chased and hunted down the fleeing civilians and deliberately set the Sumida River on fire to seal the escape route. The heat was so intense that the entire sections of the river boiled. Thus the description of brutality saw no ending. It also shows that not only Hiroshima and Nagasaki but many cities of Japan came under the brutal attacks. Two and half month later on the 23rd May 1945, 520-B-29 bombers dropped another 45000tons of bombs on the rail yards, the commercial center and the Girza entertainment district of Tokyo.
It was quite unnecessary to drop atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki as many generals opined and suggested but Harry Truman ignored the voices and requests of the generals. The warmongers are still active in the globe. Even, they are engaged in mad competitions to produce destructive nuclear arms just to kill the humans and expose more brutality. We must stop this brutal game at any cost and the world leaders must come forward to make the world absolutely nuclear free. The urge for a nuclear free world gained its momentum on the calling of US president Barack Obama’s want for the abolition of Nuclear weapons following the Review Conference for Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. We are anxiously waiting to see those sunny and happier days.
